2024 Miss Rodeo Airdrie

Kyla Lightfoot

Kyla Lightfoot is 20 years old and has spent the last 15 years in wild rose country, which has given her a great appreciation for life in the West and all that it has to offer, especially horses and rodeo! Kyla began riding at two years old and has been involved and competed in many disciplines, including 4H Alberta, extreme cowboy racing, gymkhana, and reining. Kyla currently competes in the American Quarter Horse Association show circuit, where she has earned numerous National Championship titles.

In addition to her passion for the Western way of life, Kyla is currently attending MacEwan University with the goal of obtaining her Bachelor of Communications with a major in journalism. She plans to use her journalism degree to share Western heritage and the exhilarating sport of rodeo with audiences worldwide. Having attended the Airdrie Pro Rodeo numerous times, Kyla can attest to its success and the welcoming atmosphere.

She is excited to be crowned the 2024 Miss Rodeo Airdrie and have the opportunity to welcome residents and visitors alike while sharing her love for the sport of rodeo.

Airdrie Rodeo Royalty Program

Every July 1st weekend, we bestow the titles of Miss Rodeo Airdrie. Our Royalty assumes the role of ambassadors, not only for the Airdrie Pro Rodeo but also for the vibrant community of Airdrie, throughout the ensuing twelve months.

Throughout their reign, these remarkable individuals embark on a whirlwind journey, attending over 100 events. They fervently advocate for the sport of rodeo, embody the spirit of Airdrie at various community gatherings, and acquire invaluable skills through engagements with both business and non-profit entities across the province. In essence, we are fostering the next generation of female leaders within our community. The tireless dedication and achievements of our Royalty fill us with immense pride.

We extend an invitation to young women aged 19-26 (*as per eligibility criteria) to participate in our Royalty competition.

This multifaceted event includes challenges such as public speaking, written examinations, showcasing horsemanship skills, personal interviews, and gracing the runway at our annual Fashion Show Fundraiser.

*Be a female who is a minimum of 19 years of age as of November 30th of her application submission year and not over the age of 26 as of the concluding November 30th of her reign.

*A minimum of 3 applications are required for the Airdrie Rodeo Royalty competition to commence.

Airdrie Rodeo Royalty Farewell

Kyla Lightfoot

2024 Miss Rodeo Airdrie

Kyla Lightfoot

As of January 23,2025:

It is with a heavy heart that the Airdrie Rodeo Ranch Association has decided to put our Royalty Program on pause due to budget cuts and our Royalty Director stepping down. Sadly this means that Kyla Lightfoot has been released from her Miss Rodeo Airdrie duties.

As a committee we would like to sincerely thank Kyla for her representation and commitment to the Airdrie Pro Rodeo, wishing her the best in her future endeavors. Also, Katie Van Heinen our now past Royalty Director for bringing the Royalty Program to the high caliber it is today.

Thank you.
